Wills and
Probate
There are times in life where you have to face up
to and deal with the consequences of the death of a
member of the family. Assets belonging to the deceased
will pass on to beneficiaries either according to the
terms of a will or if none has been made by the deceased
then under the legal rules applying in such cases.
In either case application must be made to the Probate
Division of the High Court of Justice. Only a certificate
from the Court bearing the Court seal identifying the
Executor or Administrator of the estate will be sufficient
for the purposes of banks, building societies, the Land
Registry etc.
Inheritance Tax
Inheritance Tax is currently chargeable at the rate
of 40% but substantial savings can be made if the deceased
had been properly advised and had taken appropriate
action.
